[Preamble] Lunar new year is a fun activity for all Tyrians. It traces it’s roots to the Canthan new year and shares many similarities to the real world cultural event Chinese New Year. Like Chinese New Year luck and wealth are themes in Lunar New Year.
[Method] The way to make money during Lunar New Year is through the opening of a seasonal item called the “Divine Lucky Envelope.” Divine Lucky Envelopes can be acquired through three different means, The first is buying them from the event NPC for 1g a piece, up to 16 per day. The second is winning 10 rounds of Dragon Ball and trading your achievement reward (along with 10g) for 10 more envelopes. The third is by trading a single guild commendation to the Guild Trader in the guild hall for one Envelope, up to 3 each day. Do all 3 and you should get a whopping 29 envelopes per day of the festival! (Note: an additional 6 envelopes can be earned each day by earning 20 more wins in dragon ball)
Now how do you make money with these envelops you may ask, well with luck of course! Or rather through a stat call Magic Find. Magic find improves the likelihood for rare and valuable items to appear as rewards for killing enemies and opening certain bag items including the Divine Lucky Envelopes. Divine lucky Envelopes have a guaranteed chance to drop a trophy worth 88s88c or a rare chance to drop a trophy worth 8g88s88c. The trick to making money from opening these envelopes is to increase your magic find stat as much as possible before opening a bunch of envelopes. You’ll want to get your magic find as high as possible, though setting a goal of at least 300% should be adequate. A complete guide to all the different magic find buffs and sources can be found here
Tips: The timers on Character buffs like food and utilities are based on you logged in on that specific character. Using a dedicated envelope opener can help you conserve timers.
The Silver Wastes has some massive magic find bonuses, but require you to complete the meta event and disappear if you enter a new map (such as when logging out and logging back in).
There are many sources of magic find specific to the festival, keep an eye out for bonus luck rewards as that can be used to increase your permanent magic find bonus.
